Instructors: Mike Murray, Cassius Callender, Dave Miess
Join us for a winter photographic adventure through Wisconsin’s North Woods, exploring the scenic landscapes between Minocqua and the shores of Lake Superior.
During the quiet beauty of winter, we’ll venture through snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, winding rivers, and ice-covered waterfalls, searching for the unique character and beauty of this iconic region.
Our days will be filled with opportunities to photograph frost-covered pines, snow-draped landscapes, historic bridges, and the dramatic shoreline of Lake Superior transformed by ice and snow. Soft winter light, colorful sunrises and sunsets, and the possibility of clear, star-filled nights will provide exceptional conditions for landscape photography, while quiet trails and remote locations offer a chance to slow down and connect with the natural world.
This adventure also places a strong emphasis on the creative editing process, with dedicated time to review and refine our images, strengthen post-processing techniques, and explore ways to transform field captures into compelling finished photographs.
Combining exploration, photography, and image development, this adventure is designed for photographers looking to expand their skills both behind the camera and in the digital darkroom while capturing the peaceful and powerful beauty of Wisconsin’s North Woods in winter.
