Before you walk out the door....

Gear, Packing, and Other Stuff

• Make sure your laptop/tablet operating system software is updated.
• We recommend Adobe Lightroom Classic and Adobe Photoshop. If you don't already have them, you can download trial copies for the workshop. Be sure to do that before the workshop. 
• Pack your gear so that your go-to lens is handy and ready to go. Consider storing that lens on the camera body.
• Make sure your lenses and sensors are clean.
• Check for, and apply manufacturer firmware updates to your camera bodies and lenses.
• Double check that you have all cords, adapters, and other accessories that you’ll need during the workshop. Consider bringing a small travel power strip.
• Pack all of your lithium batteries in your carry-on bag, so that you are complying with flight regulations. 
• Set your camera so it will only fire with a memory card in the slot. You never know when you might forget to put the card back in the camera, and the last thing you want is to find out later that all those “shots” you took weren’t saved.
• While you don’t want to overpack, it’s always good to assume that it will be colder, windier, and wetter than you expect.
• Make sure your boots are properly fitted and broken in. Waterproof boots are best. For some workshops, a pair of shoes or sandals will be fine, too.
• Be sure to have a sturdy tripod and ball head. If you need recommendations, please let us know! Remember any lens plates/L-brackets.
• Batteries - bring extras and a charger. Ensure that they're fully charged before heading out on shoots.
• Be sure to bring along the appropriate lenses! We recommend a wide-angle zoom (16-35, 17-35, 17-40), a general-purpose zoom (like 24-70 or 24-105), and a medium telephoto zoom (like 70-200) are just perfect. 
• Memory cards - bring extras! Also remember a card reader.
• Laptop/Tablet, power cables, and any portable hard drives.
• Lens cloths.
• Camera rain cover.
• Remote shutter trigger.
• Camera manual.
• Filters - we recommend a circular polarizer, Neutral Density filters, and Graduated Neutral Density filters. If you don't have these, just let us know and we can provide some options! We will also usually have some with us.
• Wide-brimmed hat.
• Trekking poles.
• Rain jacket, gloves, and layers for all weather conditions.
• Headlamp.
• Sunscreen, bug repellent, and mosquito head net (during mosquito season).
